The Renon is South Tyrol’s largest and sunniest plateau, consisting of 7 villages and a total surface of 111 km². It spreads out right above the region’s capital Bolzano, between the rivers Isarco and Talvera, at an average altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. The plateau boasts the best panoramic views of the Dolomites, UNESCO Natural World Heritage site since 2009.
Thanks to its unique panoramic location and a deeply rooted local culture, the Renon offers a variety of activities all year round. So, there is no room for boredom during your stay here. Nature will charm you in numerous revelations of its beauty such as the Earth Pyramids and the unique panorama of the Dolomites at the mountain top Corno del Renon.
Furthermore, you may expect a generous array of diverse cultural and leisure activities. One of the most fascinating experiences, not only for railway lovers, is a ride on the Trenino del Renon (Ritten Train) that has been running between the two villages Soprabolzano and Collalbo since 1907.
Boasting more than 300 sunny days a year, our plateau is ranked right at the top of South Tyrol’s travel destinations.
